Current Retirees

Cricket is our little 12 year old senior yorkie. She may be small, but she has a big heart and personality. She also thinks she’s a big dog. In fact, she’d like to be a blood hound when she grows up! Cricket always has her nose to the ground smelling for a snack or picking out the scent of a squirrel or chipmunk. I’d like to imagine that Cricket thinks of herself as a dog on a mission each day she goes outside and hits the trails.

Cricket came to Furever in Him back in 2020 with her sweet older sister Abby. A friend posted the two yorkies on Facebook explaining that her mother was very ill and would not be able to care for them any longer. Taking them home herself was not an option (although she would have in a heartbeat!).

Rosie and I had recently said goodbye to our two previous seniors. We were lost without our little pack and when I saw the Facebook post my first thought was, “Well we have two beds available.” I reached out and we set up a trial weekend for the girls. Long story short, Abby and Cricket never left after that weekend. Rosie and I were in love!

This past March, we had to say goodbye to Abby. She fought so hard through so many different illnesses. She was a trooper and a queen. Abby will be greatly missed. You can read her tribute in our March Newsletter.

Cricket is now navigating her way for the first time in a world without her sister Abby. Cricket it a tough little yorkie and you can really tell she’s trying so hard to be the next little “boss”.

We’re taking time to give Cricket the extra care she needs during this time of transition. We’ll update when another senior pup comes into our care.
